Beggar at TESCO

I was walking into TESCO shopping with my sister. As we are entering there was a beggar sitting leaning to the wall besides the cash machine. He was eating a sandwich and have radio next to him. He seem to enjoy his sandwich and the music as it is a quite cold day and I thought he must be hungry.

As we are passing by he signaled for some help. I touched my jacket for the wallet while going towards the cash machine. Checked it and then while contemplating,  sister asked me to get the trolley. Went and get it with the only £1 in my wallet. I thought we go in and after shopping I would get some change.

After coming out, -and forgetting totally about the man- we say a tall white chap approaching the man.
He said: what can I get you?
The man: a sandwich.
He said: What do you fancy?
The man: Cheese and Ham
He said: Ok

I didn't listen to the whole conversation when walking by as sister was asking me to hurry, we need to pick the kids. I felt some regret and shame to not have been thinking as generous and sadly didn't have a chance  give the man anything. Thanks tall, young man for teaching me and reminding me that giving should be from the best we have.
